I’m running for Cle Elum City Council to:
- Enhance our quality of life,
- Support our local businesses,
- Increase accessibility, transparency and accountability.
Enhance our quality of life
It’s essential we manage our city’s growth using smart, thoughtful approaches that put current residents and infrastructure first. We must protect our community’s culture and history – the reason so many of us choose to live and raise our families here.
Through my service on the Cle Elum Planning Commission and the parks committee, I’ve listened to residents: It’s clear there is a strong desire in the community for more family activities and facilities. We must improve our public parks, work toward building a community center and aquatic facility, invest in our library, and encourage more businesses that offer activities for kids.
Support local businesses
Our businesses are vital to the health of the community. We have so many incredible shops and restaurants that we must support. As a small business owner, I’m tuned in to ways that government can help businesses grow and succeed – or at the very least not get in the way, and how it can hurt.
I want to ensure that our city creates an environment that enables businesses to grow and thrive and attract new ones in the process. Smart economic development is key to the long-term success of our city.
Increase accessibility, transparency and accountability
There is a lot that city government can do to be more accessible and accountable to you. It starts with better communication through an improved website and better usage of online communication tools.
I firmly believe that an informed citizenry is the cornerstone of democracy and that sunshine is the best disinfectant.
It’s time to put cameras in the council chambers to allow public meetings to be accessible to everyone with internet access at any time, not just those of us who can spare a few hours on a weeknight to sit in a chair in City Hall.
I will do my part to increase accessibility, communication and transparency by personally utilizing email and social media to keep you informed about what’s happening with your city government. I’ll announce and hold “office hours” in various locations around town and at different times during the day to work around your schedules.
In addition, I’ll do my best to be responsive by phone or email as well – starting right now. Give me a call on my personal cell phone at 509-201-7402 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I will be available to hear your questions, concerns, ideas and provide support as you navigate your local government.
